Iran UN envoy blames cruel US sanctions for UN voting right suspension

Iran says the United States’ cruel and unilateral sanctions are to blame for the suspension of its voting right in the United Nations General Assembly. Iran’s U-N Ambassador Majid Takht Ravanchi says Iran is facing difficulties paying its UN membership fee for the second straight year due to the sanctions. Takht Ravanchi says the restrictions are not just impeding Iran’s access to humanitarian items, medicine, and medical equipment. He says the bans are also impeding the U-N’s work. The envoy said Iran is working to find a safe financial channel to pay its U-N membership fee and reclaim its voting right.
