People in Bahrain have taken to the streets in protest at the upcoming trip by Israeli President Isaac Herzog to their country.
The protesters gathered in several areas of Bahrain on Friday, chanting death to Israel. They also carried signs with Herzog’s image, calling him a criminal. Opposition activists launched a campaign on social media too, speaking out against normalization with Israel. Herzog is set to arrive in Bahrain on Sunday. He will be the first Israeli president to visit the Arab country. Bahrain, along with the UAE and Morocco, normalized ties with the regime in 2020 under a US-backed deal. The move sparked Muslims’ anger, who called it a betrayal of the Palestinian cause.
