US President Joe Biden has made a surprise visit to the Ukrainian capital. During his hours-long stay, he said he was there to show Washington’s unwavering support for Kiev.
Biden vowed that Washington would stand with Ukraine as long as it takes. He said Washington would provide Kiev with a new military aid package worth 500 million dollars. He also announced a fresh round of sanctions against Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy called Biden’s visit an extremely important sign of support for all Ukrainians. The visit comes days before the first anniversary of the breakout of the war between Ukraine and Russia. Moscow has repeatedly warned the US and its allies that arms deliveries to Kiev will only prolong the conflict.
