The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons says nuclear-armed countries have increased spending on their atomic weapons arsenals amid international tensions.
The civil society coalition says the resources are directed toward modernization and deployment of nuclear-armed weapons. The Geneva-based organization says the United States accounts for 80-percent of the nearly 11-billion-dollar spike in the spending. According to the anti-nukes campaign group, that the U-S is spending on its arsenal more than all other eight nuclear-armed countries put together. The organization’s chief has slammed what she called the misallocation of public funds. Melissa Parke said such a budget is more than enough to even end the world hunger.
