Spain has filed a lawsuit with the International Court of Justice to join South Africa’s case against Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Madrid says it seeks to contribute to bringing peace back to Gaza and highlighted concerns about the humanitarian crisis in the territory. Madrid's action aligns it with 12 other countries that have formally accused Israel of genocide until now. South Africa’s lawsuit with the I-C-J was filed in December last year. The court ordered Israel to take urgent steps to stop the genocidal acts in Gaza and to ensure the entrance of humanitarian aid there. Since then, South Africa called for measures that would also address famine in Palestine.
