Iran is hosting a maritime rescue and security exercise in its territorial waters in the Caspian Sea with the aim of improving shipping safety in the area.
Iranian and Russian Navy units are taking part in the drills. Among them are the Iranian Navy’s missile frigates and helicopters as well as a naval vessel of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps. A Russian tugboat has also joined the maneuvers. Observers from the Caspian Sea littoral states, including the Azerbaijan Republic are also present in the exercises.
