Multiple Palestinian organizations have come up with a new report detailing the ordeal Gaza detainees have gone through in Israeli jails in recent months.
The report, which is based on testimonies from nearly two dozen detainees, shows the inmates went through abuses - ranging from systematic torture, severe mistreatment and medical neglect to brutal beatings and starvation. It also highlights the spread of the highly contagious skin diseases among prisoners. The report says many detainees are left with lasting physical and psychological trauma as abuses began soon after their arrest, particularly during the initial interrogation. These abuses have been reported in several Israeli prisons, including Sde Teiman, Naqab, and Ofer. According to previous reports, 54 Palestinians died in Israeli jails since the onset of the Gaza war. Israel has detained over 25-thousand Palestinians from the occupied West Bank, al-Quds, and Gaza over the past 15 months.
