Thousands of demonstrators have rallied in the US capital city of Washington DC to protest Donald Trump’s policies ahead of his second term as president.
The "People's March," which was organized by civil rights and social justice groups, drew demonstrators from across the nation. Participants highlighted a range of issues, including immigrants’ rights, climate change, women’s rights and gun violence. They converged near the Lincoln Memorial, carrying colorful signs and chanting slogans such as “we won’t back down” and “we rise, we resist, we march.” Demonstrators expressed fear of Trump's plans and policies, with first-time protesters and veterans alike saying they were afraid of what might happen during his second term. Similar marches were planned nationwide, including in New York City. Trump, who is returning to the White House for a second term, has vowed swift action to deport millions of undocumented migrants upon taking office.
