The kingdom's passion for this digital platform, especially Twitter, initially promised a new lease of life to a nation practically deprived of freedom of expression. But what was hoped to be a parliament of people soon turned into a tool in the hands of the repressive regime, to promote its own narrative while muzzling voices of dissent.
