It's Election Day in Iran. People are heading to the polls across the country to choose a new president for the next four years. More than 59 million Iranians are eligible to cast ballots. Voters will choose a successor to incumbent President Hassan Rouhani from the four candidates running. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called for a high turnout stressing that a high turnout can help the country gain major advantages at the international level. Incumbent Hassan Rouhani also called on people from all walks of life to participate in the election. Rouhani said a high turnout will frustrate Iran’s enemies. The Iranian economy and the outcome of JCPOA negotiations are some of the key issues leading up to the elections.
