The death toll from Turkey’s flash floods has risen to 38 as emergency crews keep searching for more victims and survivors in devastated areas on the Black Sea coast.
Torrents of water tossed dozens of cars and heaps of debris along streets. Rivers also burst their banks, tearing up trees and dragging away vehicles. The flooding destroyed bridges closed roads and left hundreds of villages without electricity. More than 17-hundred people were evacuated from flood-affected areas, some with the help of helicopters and boats. Meanwhile, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared the flood-hit regions as disaster areas. The floods are among the worst that Turkey has experienced to date.
