Iran FM meets Assad, stresses Syria reginal role

Iran’s foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has sat down for talks with his Syrian counterpart in Damascus. The two officials discussed ways to further expand bilateral relations. They also exchanged views on international and regional developments. The Iranian foreign minister has described the talks as very useful. He said Iran and Syria are designing a roadmap for the expansion of economic cooperation in the face of cruel sanctions by adversaries. Amirabdollahian said the presence of extra-regional forces does not help the region improve its security and stability. He stressed that all regional countries, particularly Iraq and Syria, should work for the progress of the region. He said Iran has strategic ties with these two nations.
