Iran was never a colony, but it marks anti-British colonialism day each year on Shahrivar 12, which fell to Sep 3 this year.
The day is a reminder of a potent British presence in Iran, while commemorating efforts to thwart imperialist influence in this country by tribal fighters.
It is the martyrdom anniversary of Rais Ali Delvari who organized popular resistance in the south against British troops which had invaded Iran in 1915.
