Damascus denounces Turkey's troop deployment

PressTV 4 views
Damascus has strongly denounced a Turkish decision to extend its military presence on Syrian soil. A Syrian foreign ministry source told local media that the Turkish move amounts to military aggression and violates UN resolutions. The source regards Turkey’s policy as a threat to regional peace and security. This is less than a week after the Turkish parliament voted to extend for two more years the military’s mandate to launch cross-border operations in Iraq and Syria. Ankara says its mission is aimed at fighting terrorists. But Damascus has time and again condemned the Turkish presence on its soil and accused Turkey of supporting terrorist groups.
