A Palestinian inmate, who has been on hunger strike for months, has gone into a coma.
A lawyer for Palestinian prisoners says Hisham Abu Hawash could die any second, quoting medical sources. Abu Hawash has been on hunger strike for nearly 140 days. That in protest at Israeli authorities' detaining Palestinians and keeping them incarcerated indefinitely without any trial. Palestinian sources say the al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement has raised the state of alert in response to the news. It has reportedly announced mobilization among its forces in Gaza and the occupied west bank. Palestinians in the West Bank city of Ramallah have taken to the street to stage a rally in support of the critically ill prisoner.
