Syrian President Bashar al-Assad paid an unannounced one-day visit to the United Arab Emirates.
The surprise visit was the first of its kind to an Arab state since the beginning of the foreign-sponsored unrest in Syria in 2011.
The visit signals thawing ice between Damascus and other Arab nations after defeat of the foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists in Syria.
