May 15 marks 74 years of Al-Nakba, or the Palestinian experience of dispossession and loss of their homeland. This is what the creation of Israel did to their homeland. And to this day, Palestinians and the world mark this day. The question is: why haven’t there been major strides made for the cause of Palestine, or their rights? In this edition of the Spotlight, we will look at why international law continues to be broken by Israel on things like settlement building and home demolitions, and more importantly, how it has gotten away with murder: will that be the case of assassinated reporter Shireen Abu Akleh?
