Activists in Latin American countries hold events to mark the 74th anniversary of Palestine’s Nakba Day, or the Day of Catastrophe.
People in Peru, Panama, Chile, and Argentina held rallies and marches in solidarity with the people of Palestine. The Venezuelan capital, Caracas, paid tribute to slain Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh by projecting her photo on the building of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. The Al Jazeera reporter was fatally shot by Israeli troops last week while covering a raid on the Palestinian city of Jenin. Abu Akleh’s death touched off international condemnation of the Tel Aviv regime’s violence.
