It was almost 35 years ago. But the memory of the Iraq-Iran war is still an open wound to so many Iranians, still with no news of their loved ones lost at war.

It was 22 September 1980 that the then Baathist Iraq attacked this country. But what manner of madness might have driven Iraq’s then president Saddam Hussain to think it was a good idea to attack a larger more powerful Iran? Well this country was still taking baby steps after the birth of its revolution and Islamic Republic.
