After five days of Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip, a ceasefire has officially come into effect in the besieged territory.
The Egyptian-mediated truce ended the worst episode of fighting since a 10-day war in 2021. Palestinian resistance movement, the Islamic Jihad, said it would abide by the ceasefire as long as Israel does. In a statement, the Joint Operations Room of the Palestinian Resistance Factions also said the Palestinian resistance groups are stronger than before. The latest Israeli violence erupted when regime targeted a number of residential areas in Gaza on Tuesday, killing several Islamic Jihad commanders. A total of 33 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed in five days of Israeli attacks. In response, Palestine resistance groups fired over 12-hundred rockets towards Israel, targeting as far as Tel Aviv. An Israeli settler was also killed and dozens more injured.
