Muslims have commemorated Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Mourning processions have been held across the world. Millions of mourners have gathered at Imam Hussein’s shrine in the Iraqi city of Karbala. Imam Hussein (AS) was martyred in the Battle of Karbala in the 7th century.
