South Africa has emerged victorious in a months-long dispute with the United States, during which the American embassy accused the country of covertly assisting Russia in the conflict in Ukraine. The outcome has prompted the South African Communist Party - which is allied to the ruling ANC - to call for the expulsion of the ambassador.
