New footage has been released, showing a US military convoy allegedly transporting Syrian oil to Iraq.
The video, dating back to September 26, was released by the Cradle online news magazine. It says dozens of tankers pass weekly in convoys transporting smuggled Syrian oil accompanied by US warplanes and helicopters. According to the Cradle, the Syrian oil is transported to the Harir military site in Erbil. There, the oil is emptied into other tankers that carry it to the US base at Ain al-Assad in Anbar province. The US military has stationed its forces and equipment in northeastern Syria, with the Pentagon claiming that the deployment is aimed at preventing the oil fields in the area from falling into the hands of Daesh terrorists. Damascus maintains that the deployment is meant to plunder Syria’s natural resources.
