Israeli warplanes have launched massive airstrikes on the southern suburb of Dahiyeh in the Lebanese capital Beirut, killing at least eight people and wounding around 80 others.

The fatalities were recovered from the rubble of bombed buildings on Friday after the attacks that targeted residential structures in Haret Hreik in the area earlier in the day.

Over 76 people have reportedly been wounded, while a number of others are reported missing.

Civil defense and medical teams are investing in significant efforts to rescue potential survivors.

The blasts resulted in loud explosions that reverberated across the city.

The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah’s al-Manar TV said more than 15 missiles struck the area during the attacks.

Thick plumes of smoke were visible rising from the sites of the strikes, which reportedly targeted at least four buildings.
