Iran has condemned in the strongest terms the latest round of joint airstrikes by American and British forces against targets in Yemen, stating that the aerial attacks are in flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Saturday held the UK and US accountable for such infringements of international laws.

“Repeated military aggression by the United States and Britain against Yemen constitutes a blatant infringement of the UN Charter and fundamental principles of international law.

“The attacking parties bear international accountability for such unlawful acts that run counter to the UN Charter,” he wrote.

Baghaei said Israel and its expansionist policy is destabilizing the region.

“The Zionist regime’s ongoing occupation, warmongering policies, and expansionism are the main reasons behind insecurity and instability in West Asia,” he added.

He stressed the need for the cessation of Israel’s bloody aggression against Lebanon and the genocidal war in Gaza as the prerequisite for the restoration of peace and stability in the region.

The Iranian diplomat said the actions of the Yemeni people and other Muslim nations in the region are in retaliation for the Zionist regime’s atrocities against Palestinians, Lebanese people, and Syrians.
