Iran’s ambassador to Syria says the embassy in Syria is open and high-level consultations are underway to address the situation in the Arab country.
Hossein Akbari made the remarks after rumors circulated that the embassy has closed as terrorists advance towards Damascus. On the attacks by the terrorists, the ambassador said the terrorists have passed beside Homs governorate and are moving towards Damascus. The ambassador touched on the role of the Zionist regime in supporting the terrorists, saying that constant Israeli attacks on the Syrian army positions over the past months were preparations for the attack by terrorists. But Akbari stressed the resistance is well capable of dealing with the terrorists and no other party can do that. He said the backers of the militants want the ouster of the Syrian government but at the same time are worried that the terrorists might harm their interests too.
