A Palestinian rights group warns that Israel is using the ceasefire in Gaza as a cover to continue killing civilians across the war-torn territory. According to the Gaza Human Rights Center, Israeli forces have killed an average of five Palestinians per day since the truce took effect.
The center said Israeli forces have killed 439 civilians in 90 days of ceasefire, including 155 children and 61 women. It noted that the regime’s troops continue with the genocide in Gaza through deliberate and systematic attacks on civilians, in blatant violation of the ceasefire, as well as international humanitarian law and international human rights law. It added that Israeli forces also continue bombardment and demolition operations within the so-called “yellow line,” in a clear effort to render large swathes of Gaza uninhabitable. It stressed that Israel’s deliberate killings of civilians also amount to war crimes, and crimes against humanity. Warning that international silence enables further crimes and impunity, the center said the global community bears legal and moral responsibility for failing to protect civilians.
