Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps has launched major military exercises in the central desert of the country.
The first stage of the maneuvers kicked off with firing surface-to-surface ballistic missiles and operating bomber drones. The missiles equipped with detachable warheads are guided from outer space and are able to penetrate into the enemy’s missile shield. The exercises have been held in the presence of IRGC commander-in-chief, Major General Hossein Salami and other senior military officials. Salami hailed the drills as successful, adding that using new technology in controlling and directing missiles and drones was one of the main features of the maneuvers. Head of IRGC’s Aerospace Division, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, also said that Iran test-fired a new generation of ballistic missiles during Friday’s exercises.
