English speaking regions of Cameroon have for decades complained of marginalization, particularly in the education and legal systems, by the Francophone-dominated government.

These grievances have triggered widespread protests and violence since October 2016. Over the past few months there has been an alarming spike in attacks on schools and education centers in the North and South-West of Cameroon.
