The idea of a Welsh independence from the United Kingdom is high on the agenda ahead of this year's Welsh elections as new polls suggest support for independence is at an all time high. The idea of Wales going alone has traditionally been doubtful but since Brexit, public support for an independence vote has skyrocketed as the country’s biggest pro-independence party has pledged to secure a vote on independence within the next five years. Although support for independence is not near a majority view, London’s handling of the Coronavirus outbreak as well as Brexit’s effects on the Welsh economy are seen as the reasons for fueling independence sentiments there.
