In Lebanon, prime minister-designate Saad al-Hariri has presented his cabinet line-up to President Michel Aoun. The move could end almost nine months of political deadlock amid an economic crisis there.
Hariri said he is now awaiting the president’s response which is expected on Thursday. He added that the proposed cabinet is composed of 24 specialist ministers in line with a French initiative. Hariri spoke after meeting with Aoun. Lebanon has plunged deeper into what the World Bank calls one of the world's worst economic crises in modern history. The financial dilemma, which has seen the value of the currency plummeting by more than 90-percent, has been deepened by the political deadlock.
