Leaders of the world’s most advanced nations begin the G-20 summit in the Italian capital, Rome.
Climate change, health, and the relaunch of the global economy top the agenda of the two-day talks. The participants are under pressure to make headway on tackling global warming. UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has warned G-20 leaders to show more action to overcome mistrust to advance climate goals. The event comes amid protests at inaction to address the problem of climate change. On Friday, thousands of school students staged a rally, calling on the G-20 summit to deal with the crisis. Other groups, including the charity Oxfam, also held a flashmob in Rome. They demanded world leaders end global inequality of access to coronavirus vaccines and treatment.
