Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations says illicit trade of small and light arms fuels violence and terrorism across the world.
Majid Takht-Ravanchi says such trades risk humanitarian, socio-economic, and security consequences. The Iranian diplomat says the U-N-backed framework dubbed the Program of Action or P-O-A is the only means to address the challenges. Addressing a U-N General Assembly meeting, Takht-Ravanchi reiterated Iran’s support for the full implementation of the framework. Iran says it has been a victim of foreign-backed terrorism and organized crime linked to the illegal trade of small weapons.
