Many in France had hoped that by holding a vote on the legality of the recent pension age hike, Parliament could establish its right to be a part of a national law-making process increasingly dominated by executive decree; however, President Emmanuel Macron’s ruling party sabotaged a vote, causing many to say that the long protest against the pension age increase is now definitively over.
